September is Healthy Aging Month and here at Queen City Elder Care, we would like to share some tips for seniors to look and feel their best as they age. It is never too late to adopt a healthier lifestyle. So, what better time than now to incorporate some of these tips into your daily life.
Positive Vibes: Having a healthy mindset is not only good for you mentally, it can translate into overall psychical health. Start each day by telling yourself something positive in the mirror such as “I am young, I am well, I am happy.” Turn off the news if that is putting you in a negative state of mind. Being grateful can also help adjust your outlook on life. Remember it takes more muscles to frown than to smile.
Drink More Water: Drinking enough water a day has many health benefits. It can help regulate body temperature, lubricate your joints, boost skin health, helps digestion, maintain blood pressure and many more amazing benefits. This is an easy add on to your lifestyle that will yield big results.
Walk This Way: A FitBit or Apple Watch type health tracker can help log your daily activity. The recommendation is to have 10,000 steps a day. This can be easy to achieve if you put your mind to it. Walk around the block or even step in place to achieve your goals. Your body will thank you for it.
Set-up Your Appointments: Use this month to set-up any health appointments you may have been putting off. Get your annual physical or any other health screenings that will help you maintain your overall health.
Boost Your Brain: Like we mentioned before, it is never too late to learn. Take a collage course, join a local art class or simply incorporate brain games into your daily lifestyle. Keeping your mind sharp will help keep you young all around!
